My Room Parts 2 and 3

Day 2, now this wasnt really a full day, neither was the first, but once i had sat down at my pc and began to work i began to texture what i had made, this invloved me going around my room and taking pictures of everything and thn sitting down and using my friend photoshop to create texture maps. Though this was only half of it as i then had to apply them to my models, which was good practice as i hate th uvw unwrap tool. After the day was out this is what i ended up with.

I dont think i rendered a view from the other side.

Day 3, well this was more of a full day, after getting up at 11 and playing on Hitman:Contracts until 1. So now i need to light my scene which as you can see from the simply lighting in the picture above is going to be a tough ask. Using a tutorial from www.renderray.com i managed to come up with something which is ok, atleast for a cartoon room, but not a photo realistic one. below is how it worked out.

Its now Day 4 and thanks to a tip from my dad i rendered the scene using ambient occlusion(AO), which has given it a real sense of depth. Once the AO render was completed i rendered the scene again this time with no lighting, then after they where both rendered i compostied them to get the result below. I want to render a shadowed version and then composite that on the top for light directionality.

Santa Fimo Clause

What have I done today?? Well I had a Photoshop workshop this morning and from then i have been sat infront of my pc creating santa fimo clause, I did also go and sit in the uni for 45min while i waited for my girlfriend.

On to Santa Fimo Clause, I must first state that this is based on a original work by girlfriend. Click on the pick to get to her blog.
So i used this image as a plane, which i then frooze and started adding in simple poly objects, for the eyes and the nose. Moving onto the body this was just a elongated sphere whith edges and veritices extruded and the like to get a similar look to the ref.

I then used another set of elongated spheres for the feet and hands with scaled vrtices to create the illusion of palms and bridges in the feet.

The most complicated bit was the beard for this i used the create poly tool to draw the outline of the beard then i began to use the split polygon tool show where the beard ebs and flows, this was the longest part of the model.

Nearly forgot the hat, this was just a simple cylinder which i pushed and pulled to fit the image then rotated so that it looked like it was under simple world forces.

By the end of the modeling I had this:

My 3D room part 1

The main thing that i have created so far is a 3d representation of my room, which has a very cartoon feel about like that of the first pixar shorts, where everything looks like it could be real but it just a little to 'glossy' not sure the best way to describe it.

I started this project for two reasons, one i will be starting an assignment soon to build the student union office, on the inside, and two, Rosie is down in Reading so I am bored and lonely. Although usually your supposed to sketch out the area that you are going to be creating, I started from 3DS Max.

As Im modeling my room i found getting up and having a closer look at different areas just that little bit easier than if i was modeling a parisian roof top, although I dont have a tap measure so evrything was created on instinct, which has led to a slightly characitured version of my room, where everything is in th right place but psoiible not in the right proportions.

After one days work, I say day i started at about 6, I had created most if the room, and most of the objcts to go in it. This is what i ended up with.

My Summer brief

This was my first Project that I had to complete and it was to draw myself in a way which would show what i was like as a person, it also needed to show my interests and hobbies. So I had to think about who I am. The answer to this was easy, I am a computer geek. From experience I know that doesnt mean that I live in the dark, on the opposite i removed the curtians from my room, (only because i was to lazy to sort them out), but being a computer geek means that a computer had to go in my drawing and as you'll see it did. Also I usually wear very dark clothes, not becasue i am an emo or a goth but, but just because they go with everything and im not hyper enough for bright lively clothes(in public that is), so in my picture i have the hoody i always wear (minus the sleeves as it was going to be a t-shirt) the jeans i always wear and the keychain which you will always find around my neck.
